50 Years of Aviation History |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Igor I. Sikorsky Historical Archives includes 50 years of both professional and personal correspondence of Mr. Sikorsky and several of the most significant executives in the history of Sikorsky Aircraft. Charles Lindbergh, Orville Wright, Eddie Rickenbacker, Ernst Heinkel and Anthony Fokker are only a few of the pioneers of aviation whose correspondence is found in the archives. Original correspondence for Eleanor Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixion reflect the political changes of the past 75 years. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Some of the most remarkable letters are from non-aviation related people such as Helen Keller and Father Flanagan. Notable scientists such as Werner von Braun and Alexander Klemin often sought the advice of Mr. Sikorsky. It is important to note, however, that the correspondence most cherished by Mr. Sikorsky were notes and letters from school children and other people who sought information regarding aviation in general of information about the Sikorsky Company. He responded personally to each and every request. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
